“Making e-health real health” and “For the people by the people”
Health care is becoming increasingly expensive making current models unsustainable. By 2020 virtually all school leavers will need to be recruited into the care sector to maintain the current level of care.1 Not only must there be a change in how health care is provided (from one of treatment to one of prevention), there needs to be an increasing emphasis on you, the individual to take responsibility for your own health (self care), if health care is to remain comprehensive.
Health-e-space is tailored to meet the above requirements within the Moray area. It will:
- provide local health information
- provide links to recommended health websites
- allow you to network with other people in the area with similar health concerns and share your experiences
- provide suggestions on how to live with your health concerns in Moray
- raise the profile of health issues to the wider community
Ultimately it will provide a platform for you to be able to upload health information specific to your own personal needs.
Health–e-space is an ongoing development (beta) and is seen as partnership between the public, The Northern Scot, relevant scientists (Scottish Centre for Telehealth), the NHS, Industry (Netdata, Distance Lab), HIE, Moray Council, Moray College, a number of universities, voluntary organisations, Scottish Health Innovations Ltd, and the Moray Community Health and Social Care Partnership.
Health-e-Space.com will enable, empower and encourage you to take responsibility for your own health by ultimately giving you the means to create your own patient centered medical toolkit.
